VIPP Audits

The Patient and Professional Information Exchange Acceleration Program (VIPP) aims for hospitals in the Netherlands to digitize to make healthcare safer, more patient-centric and efficient. This means that healthcare institutions can digitally exchange information with patients in a standardized and secure way.

Conducted by Registered EDP Auditors (REs) under the Assurance Engagement Framework in accordance with Guideline 3000.

Specialty medical care institutions (excluding teaching hospitals) are divided into the three target groups VIPP 1 = Hospitals, VIPP 2 = other specialty medical care institutions and VIPP 3 = mental health institutions.

The grant enables institutions to make standardized patient data accessible so that:

- patients receive accurate and complete information;
- patients can share (or have the information shared) with other healthcare providers;
- the way is open for further healthcare innovations in the field of ICT.

VIPP assessments are conducted by Registered EDP Auditors (REs) within the framework of the Assurance Engagement Framework and thus in accordance with Directive 3000. The VIPP assessment results in a report containing the auditor's opinion on the hospital's level of compliance. This report serves as accountability information for the requested grant in accordance with the Decree Establishing a Policy Framework for Grants for the Patient and Professional Information Exchange Acceleration Program.
