Hacker Mindset Workshop
25 AUGUST 2026, Amsterdam

Every organization relies on applications, platforms, or infrastructure—making them a potential target. Attackers continuously look for ways in. Understanding how they think, what they target, and how systems can be misused is key. This mindset is especially important for developers and IT teams.

The one-day Hacker Mindset Workshop is a guided, hands-on session where participants actively exploit a vulnerable application. It’s a mix of technical challenge and discovery—two elements that drive real-world attackers. You’ll experience the process from the inside: starting with a simple web application and ending with full control of the server. Each step shows how small flaws can be chained together to escalate access.

Required Skills and Expertise

This workshop is suitable for any skill level; some basic understanding of how typical websites are built up is useful. The workshop will be adjusted to the audience. Bring your own laptop to the workshop, the only ‘tool’ that we will use is a web browser. No specialized programs are needed.

What to expect from the Hacker Mindset Workshop

  • We start with a short introduction to ethical hacking and the different types of hackers. Then we look at the various attack surfaces that are commonly targeted, supported by a live OSINT demo.
  • The workshop includes case studies that show how attackers gain access to internal networks, and how penetration testing works in practice. You’ll learn what attackers look for—and what defenders can do to reduce the risk.
  • In the afternoon, we look at common application vulnerabilities and how they are used in real attacks. This leads into a practical hacking session where participants work in teams to exploit a vulnerable environment.
  • The day ends with a group discussion, lessons learned, and tips to apply in your own role.
